Long Island-Based Design and Architecture Firm
The goal of CMC Design Architect, P.C. is the development of designs that respond to the needs and wishes of the client, comply with local zoning requirements, appreciate construction limitations, remain cost effective and respect the environment. We are a small full-service firm with years of experience practicing in the New York City boroughs, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Our projects have included residential alterations and enlargements, custom luxury home designs as well as commercial and institutional projects. At CMC we enjoy working closely with clients to more fully understand their specific needs as we develop a design that is reflective of those needs. All projects receive our undivided attention to detail essential to the successful completion of every project.
Gary Lenhart, R.A. A graduate of Cooper Union School of Architecture, Gary Lenhart, is the principal of the firm. With a background in construction and the building inspection field he brings a practical understanding and appreciation for the on-site construction process. The entire staff of CMC Design Architect, P.C. works closely with contractors and builders to assist in the successful realization of the design.
The primary function of the Architect is the assimilation of the various program requirements within the context of the specific site conditions and code and zoning limitations to achieve the project objective. This entails the research and analysis of existing conditions as well as the development of the new design in compliance with the applicable zoning, construction and energy efficiency requirements.
Superstorm Sandy caused widespread devastation in our area. The coastal community of Breezy Point, in Queens, was especially hard hit with both severe storm damage and flooding as well as a major fire during the height of the storm. CMC Design Architect, P.C. has been designing new homes in the Breezy Point Cooperative for more than 25 years. Immediately after the storm CMC worked closely with the management of the Cooperative and the various city agencies to help expedite the process of rebuilding Breezy.

“Thank you for your patience and for all your time spent on our home. We still LOVE it, every new person who sees it is amazed at its use of space and the open, airy feel it has. The mud room is a big favorite, especially with the other moms…feel free to stop by and visit.” ~ Denise & Bob Esposito, Breezy Point, NY
“Gary Lenhart’s attention to detail and professionalism were key to the success of our project. We were downsizing for our retirement years and he provided us with a compact, functional home that provides for all of needs.
